“DIVORCE”
*
COMING, July 23
Bruce: “VOTE FOR PEDRO: A Sermon On Ministry With Youth.”
*
The Youth Mission Team left earlier this morning for Benton Harbor, Michigan. Michael Patloff’s dog is running through the offices waiting for Netta to pick him up. I’m pretty sure it’s a him; I know he’s named Andrew. Andrew and I just finished a few rounds of Throw The Cloth Bone. Andrew’s back at my desk now without the cloth bone, so I hope I’m not supposed to be playing FIND The Cloth Bone.

Margie W. writes:
1. We will be taking FIESTA! on the road to La Casa Del Pueblo Monday, July 24-Wednesday July 26 from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m.. Each crew the children were in during here at St. Andrew’s helped to make a blanket to share with children in need. We are in need of volunteers to help with this outreach. This is the same church we shared tamales and gifts with during “Get Ready for Jesus” in December 2005. If you are interested, please contact Netta at npollock@standrewsomaha.net or Margie at mwulfkuhle@standrewsomaha.net.
2. For those children who made footprints in the sand during Fiesta Bible School, please pick up your footprint by this Sunday, July 16 at the information desk in the Narthax. Any left over footprints will be disposed of on Monday, July 17th.

No, Andrew, not that… The only reason I’m up here this early is that one of our members e-mailed me at Panera’s suggesting I might want to go up and see the youth off. That seemed like an excellent idea. Not knowing what time the youth were leaving, I finished my coffee and headed this way, arriving about 8:15, to find the youth had left at 7:30. At that point, it was just Andrew, Cami and me. Cami has left, Netta’s not here yet to pick up the dog, so we’re down to me and Andrew, and now this happens…
I can’t take him outside, for fear he’ll run away. I look out my window just now and see Heather Doll arriving. Praise the Lord for reinforcements.

Psalm 24

The earth is the LORD'S and all that is in it, the world and all who dwell therein. For it is he who founded it upon the seas and made it firm upon the rivers of the deep. Who can ascend the hill of the LORD? and who can stand in his holy place? Those who have clean hands and a pure heart, who have not pledged themselves to falsehood, nor sworn by what is a fraud. They shall receive a blessing from the LORD and a just reward from the God of their salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, of those who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them high, O everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them high, O everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.

Commentary: I wonder if Martin Luther ever tried to make cogent commentary under these circumstances. Try this: Like Andrew the puppy, each of us has a master. Christians know our master as Jesus the Christ. When we are separated from our master, we are prone to anxiety that we perhaps cannot name but can cause us to make puddles of our lives. That’s all from here.
